_The Devil All The Time_ is based on novelist Donald Ray Pollock's 2011 family saga of the same name.

Director Antonio Campos _(Simon Killer_, 2016's _Christine_) wrote the screenplay with his brother Paulo. In an exclusive preview with [Entertainment Weekly](https://ew.com/movies/the-devil-all-the-time-tom-holland-robert-pattinson/), Campos said it was a difficult book to adapt because there was so much that they loved: “I’m a big fan of southern gothic and noir and this was a perfect marriage of the two. Sometimes you might be adapting a piece and you think like, well, there is a seed of a good idea here and I’ll just throw everything away and start from scratch. In this case it was like, we love everything!"

The film is executive produced by [Jared Goldman](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1510486/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr3), [Marc A. Hammer](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0358480/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr5), and [Annie Marter](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1142038/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr7), and stars Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgård, Riley Keough, Jason Clarke, Sebastian Stan, Robert Pattinson, Haley Bennett, Eliza Scanlen, and Mia Wasikowska.

The _Devil All the Time_ premieres September 16, 2020 on Netflix.
